ABOUT ME

My name is Julius Girbig. Nice to meet you!

As a researcher and software developer in the 3D domain, I am constantly on the lookout for new advances in the field. My passion is to empower 3D artists with tools and machine learning software, as well as develop animation systems and other in-engine technical art to bring out the best in the work of others. Since my introduction to the 3D field in 2009, I've been able to collaborate with numerous industry professionals and companies from all over the globe.

I started modelling around 2009 and kept learning about the general 3D workflow, from the conceptualization of a character, to the animated and scripted player character inside the game engine. I focused myself on modelling and animating, since these were the most exciting parts for me within the 3D domain.

Later on, I switched to working mainly on 3D animations and animation systems when I started working at Frontwire Studios, where I was later promoted to the Lead Animator of the video game title "Galaxy in Turmoil". Next to characters, I have also worked on materials, small in-game mechanics and

vehicle systems (ground and air) to guarantee a responsive and tactile experience for the player using the Blueprints Visual Scripting system of the Unreal Engine.

I began my studies in the field of media informatics in 2017 at the LMU Munich, where I picked up valuable skills and multiple programming languages such as: C#, Python, Java, Javascript and a little bit of C++, CSS, R and Haskell. In the beginning of 2022 I finished with a Bachelor of Science with a perfect score (1.0) on my thesis. During my studies, I applied my 3D skills in projects such as: VFX shots in short films, in-game cinematics in video games and creating a VR experience for the "Deutsches Museum".

Since then, I had the honor to present my scientific work at the ACM CHI conference in a workshop hosted by the MIT, as well as present it at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). I have also been nominated for the LMU Research Award for Excellent Students.

My hobbies include composing music in various forms and performing in bands. While I do not intend to pursue a musical career, I did perform professionally multiple times in front of crowds as big as 300 people. I also picked up drawing & sketching through a course in university and am able to portray ideas to clients quickly and efficiently.

I am always looking for opportunities to work with other talented people and would like to hear from you!
Thank you for your interest in me.

All the best.

Julius Girbig
